WIOA Youth  

Big Sandy Area Community Action Program provides employment and training services to youth through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, which serves both In-School and Out-of-School Youth. The Youth Program offers assistance with academic or job-related learning and helps youth prepare for further education and eventual employment.

Services Offered

  • Tutoring, study skills, training, and instruction
  • Alternative secondary school offerings
  • Summer employment opportunities
  • Paid and unpaid work experiences including internships and job shadowing
  • Occupational skills training
  • Leadership development opportunities
  • Supportive services
  • Adult mentoring for 12 months to ensure continued success of placement
  • Comprehensive guidance and counseling

Eligibility

Low-income youth with barriers to employment may receive WIA Youth Services.

Funding for the Youth Program is made possible by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 and the U.S. Department of Labor through the Department of Training and Re-Employment and the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. (EKCEP).
